Pontesbury CE Primary School occupies a particularly beautiful site backing onto Pontesford Hill. The grounds consist of playgrounds, a field, a ‘Gruffalo Wood’, pond and willow dome – all of which host our amazing ‘OPAL playtimes’ (see Outdoor Play tab for more info and pictures).
On our site, we also have our very own Library which the children visit on a weekly basis to explore new books, take time to develop their love of reading and engage with books beyond our reading schemes.
Our building is all on one level and consists of classrooms, learning zones, a nurture room, a D+T area with a cooking kitchen, a large hall, a music room and an on site catering kitchen which provides fresh, healthy meals for our children.
Our classrooms are named after continents and some rooms are named after oceans (thus promoting our Geography Knowledge and curriculum further).
Our 7 classrooms are as follows:
EYFS/Reception – Antarctica
Year 1 – Australia
Year 2 – Africa
Year 3 – South America
Year 4 – North America
Year 5 – Asia
Year 6 – Europe
