Tuesday morning 31.3.20

Good morning!

Well, the last day of March has finally arrived after what has felt like a very long month. Here is the timetable for this morning.

8.45 – 9.00: Spellings

9.00 – 9.05: Wake Up, Shake Up https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MNoCCPidpVg

9.05 – 10.00: Maths

Today we are looking at the number of tens and the number of ones in a number. This is quite new for the children, although they should understand the word ‘digit’ and hopefully can tell you several 2 digit numbers when you ask (e.g. 34, 12, 57, 85). Use the sheet to work out firstly how many towers of ten there are (the first digit) and then how many separate ones (the second digit – we used to call these units!) there are. I have attached an extra sheet for those wanting an additional challenge. T-N-1347-Place-Value-Tens-and-Units-Cut-and-Stick-Worksheet_ver_1 BusyAnt_y1_u8_w1_PG_E2

10.00 – 10.15: Break

10.15 – 11.00: English

Continue working on your frog booklet if you need to. If you were to add a contents page to your booklet, what would you put on it? Look again at the headings you chose for each page – these will form your contents page. Your contents page will need to be written on a separate piece of paper. Have a look at some examples in books at home before you begin.

If you have already done this (you know who you are!), then read through your booklet and highlight any keywords about frogs (these could be things like ‘food’, ‘frogspawn’, ‘pond’ etc.). First, put these keywords into alphabetical order and then have a go at creating a glossary. I have attached a sheet in case all of this sounds confusing! See if you can use a dictionary to help. 11.00 – 11.15: Phonics

Here are two more SPaG mats for you to have a go at: Mat 5 Mat 6

11.15 – 11.30: Break

11.30 – 11.40: ‘Peace Out’ https://www.cosmickids.com/category/watch/?video_category=relaxation&changed=video_category

11.40 – 12.25: Music

Remember your homemade percussion instruments from last week? Use them to follow the given rhythms on each of the videos. Don’t worry if you don’t have an instrument, just use body percussion! Start with this one first: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VTmk_ADNOgg

Then have a go at copying Mr Rob on this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NuoHdGBYAYY

Maybe you can come up with your own rhythms using beet, cherry, avocado and shh?

Have fun everyone!
