Tuesday 31st March

Hello everyone, hope you’re all well and coping with the weather not being as lovely this week.

Maths:

Continuing with learning about shapes, today I would like you to go on a shape hunt around your home. How many different 2d shapes can you spot? Which room has the most rectangles? Or circles? Can you find a room with 10 squares? Use the sheet below if you would like to record your answers and become a real shape detective, or just count and keep track in your head – it’s up to you!

Letters and Sounds:

Today can you learn the new sound ‘air’ – remember that this is a trigraph as it has 3 letters which make up one sound. The action for this sound is to pretend to brush your hair whilst saying ‘air, air, air’. How many words can you think of which have this sound in it? Could you write some down with their sound buttons? Watch Mr Thorne and Geraldine to help you if you’re stuck!

RE:

Since it’s nearly Easter, I would like you to learn about the Easter story. Listen to the story using the website below. Are there any characters that you recognise from other stories we have read in school? Can you explain to an adult what happened in the story?

Remember, we celebrate Easter as it is one of the oldest Christian festivals and it celebrates Jesus coming back to life again. At Christmas we celebrate another part of Jesus’ life, can you remember what it is?

You can also explore the website to order the story, play games and find out other facts relating to Easter.

Forest School:

Google some images of an ‘Easter Garden’, or have a look at the ones below – can you make your own at home? It will need to contain a part for the cave, perhaps a flower pot, yogurt pot or jam jar covered in leaves, grass or stone and a cross made of sticks, twigs or lollipop sticks. The rest of your Easter Garden is up to you, take inspiration from what you see online or just have fun being as creative as you like! I’m wondering if you would be able to explain to a grown up why an Easter Garden needs to contain a cave and a cross?

Hope you have a lovely day, I’m looking forward to seeing what you all get up to today.
